Barnstable County Commissioners Meet in Truro Tomorrow

The Barnstable County Commissioners will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Truro Library in North Truro for their next off-site meeting.

The Commissioners hold their second meeting each month in communities across Cape Cod, bringing County government directly to residents and providing additional opportunities for public engagement.

The meeting will begin with a Town of Truro update and discussion with the Town Manager and members of the Select Board.

Commissioners will also discuss several regional issues, including upcoming forestry and wildfire management planning; AmeriCorps Cape Cod’s FY26 service year and planning for FY27; Barnstable County Department of Health and Environment water testing and laboratory capabilities; and Cape Cod’s carrying capacity, regional water supply, and the Pamet Lens.

The Commissioners will also receive a presentation on the inaugural Ripple Effect Awards, an initiative of Barnstable County’s Clean Water Center recognizing individuals who have demonstrated sustained leadership, commitment, and tangible impact in protecting and improving water quality across Cape Cod.

Additional business includes consideration of a $163,176 Public Health Emergency Preparedness grant supporting regional preparedness activities and the Cape Cod Medical Reserve Corps.
