At its August 14, 2026, meeting, the Texas Medical Board disciplined 17 licensed physicians.

The disciplinary actions included: three orders related to standard of care, one order related to unprofessional conduct, three voluntary suspensions, one Consent Order, three Mediated Settlement Agreed Orders, and six Waiver Orders.

RULES CHANGES ADOPTED

CHAPTER 160. General Provisions: Employee Training and Education
The Board adopted new rule §160.8 authorizing reimbursement for employee training and education expenses under Texas Government Code Chapter 656, establishing policies on eligibility, approval, funding, and repayment obligations without affecting employment status.

CHAPTER 161. Physician Licensure: Continuing Medical Education (CME) Requirements for License Renewal
The Board adopted amendments to rule §161.35 requiring licensed physicians to complete specific continuing medical education credits on forensic evidence collection and nutrition/metabolic health as mandated by HB47 and SB25, with provisions for exemptions and CME credit tracking through CE Broker, reflecting changes to the Texas Occupations Code sections 156.057 and 156.061.

CHAPTER 183. Physician Assistants: Biennial Continuing Medical Education (CME) Requirements
The Board adopted amendments to rule §183.16, requiring licensed physician assistants to complete specific biennial continuing medical education credits including two hours on forensic evidence collection and one hour on nutrition and metabolic health, as mandated by HB47 and SB25 of the 89th Legislative Session, with courses recognized by relevant state bodies and provisions for formal and informal CME, exemptions, and military service considerations.

CHAPTER 186. Medical Radiologic Technology: Non-Certified Technician Registration and Practice Requirements
The Board adopted amendment to rule §186.26, relating to Education Standards for Non- Certified Technicians, clarifies that the rule does not require 120 classroom hours, but rather, the educational standard is met upon completion of the minimum hours required by an approved program within each topic area. Specifically, the adopted amendment in subsection (a)(4) further clarifies that, within an approved program, a non-certified technician is required to complete one or more of the units of applied human anatomy on the list, but not all.
