Woman Faces Vehicular Homicide by Intoxication Charge After 2-Vehicle Collision

Lizbeth Delgado Cruz, 32, will be charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication following Tuesday’s 2:50 a.m. two-vehicle collision in the intersection of Harding Place and Linbar Drive that claimed the life of Martin Villagomez Jr., 30.

The preliminary investigation indicates that Delgado Cruz was driving a 2004 GMC Yukon west on Harding Place when she ran a red light and struck the driver’s side of Villagomez’ 2019 Nissan Altima as he was traveling through the intersection on Linbar Drive.

Both were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where Villagomez, of Nashville, died. A nurse informed officers at the hospital that they detected an odor of alcohol on Delgado Cruz. She sustained non-life threatening injuries. Delgado Cruz, of LaVergne, will be charged upon her dismissal from the hospital.
