BURBANK, CALIFORNIA, USA, June 30, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — The newest franchise location marked its official grand opening on the 28th of June 2021, Monday, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Burbank Chamber of Commerce, located at 200 W Magnolia Blvd in the city of Burbank.

Despite the pandemic negatively impacting almost every industry all over the world, 1Heart Caregiver Services has been making strides in opening more locations throughout Southern California. Cecilia Mumar, 1Heart’s newest franchise owner and Managing Director for the Burbank location, expressed her gratitude to the City of Burbank for their support for her business. “I’m really grateful to the Burbank Chamber of Commerce, who worked with me even through these tough times during the tail end of the pandemic. With the support of the city is the only way my business can succeed, and only with my success can I be a great contributor to the City of Burbank.”

The event was attended by community members, esteemed guests, and representatives from State and city offices, including Arda Tchakian on behalf of State Senator Anthony Portantino, Will Steele from the Office of Supervisor Katherine Barger, City Council Members Nick Schultz and Konstantine Anthony, Alondra Lopez who is the Burbank Field Representative for Assembly Member Friedman, Director of Member Services Chris Hunter, and other members of the Chamber of Commerce including Ambassadors Jeanne Vlazny and Nathaniel Beaver.
1Heart’s very own Founder & CEO, Belina Calderon-Nernberg, Chief Operating Officer, Kevin Tagarao, and Vice President of Franchise Development, Randolph Clarito, were also present to celebrate this milestone.

The ceremony highlighted the importance of home care for seniors. “We all, at some point, took care of an elderly family member. That type of care can’t really be done alone and that’s what brought me to this type of business,” Cecile states. “Even just from the name alone, starting a business like 1Heart has to come with a lot of passion, compassion, and one heart to succeed and reassure our seniors to trust us to take care of them and their needs.”

“These home care businesses for seniors is something we don’t really get to talk about,” said Nick Schultz, City Council Member. “Most of our programs in the city are geared towards middle-aged individuals, young adults, and children, and we tend to overlook the seniors who have a lot of needs later in their lives. We are abdicating our responsibilities when we don’t think about the elderly population. Now that the word is out and we have businesses like 1Heart Caregiver Services here in Burbank, we can reassure people that they don’t have to care for their loved ones alone.”

“Companies like 1Heart solve problems that we previously didn’t even know existed. There are more people reaching out to find these kinds of services.” Chris Hunter, Director of Member Services for the Burbank Chamber of Commerce, stated, “The need for home care services has been present for a long time, and now that we’re starting to get some traction for this industry, our citizens no longer have to rely on their family and friends for care. Our elders and their families don’t have to do it on their own. They can get help from 1Heart.”

"We understand the need for senior care and that these supportive services are so integral to the health and sustainability of Burbank,” said Konstantine Anthony from the City Council. “We're so glad to have 1Heart Caregiver Services and its newest franchisee here in Burbank."
1Heart Caregiver Services Burbank proudly serves Burbank, Pasadena, Glendale, La Cañada Flintridge, La Crescenta Montrose, North Hollywood, and Toluca Lake.

Find and hire great caregivers

Launch of new nationwide caregiver recruitment and hiring service to be offered to organizations

We know that the largest cost in running a private duty agency or any healthcare facility has to do with recruiting, retaining, curating, and managing caregivers. ”

— Jeffrey Fry

AUSTIN, TEXAS, USA, June 30, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — Well Beyond Care, a company that has revolutionized the private duty industry by allowing families and individuals looking for in-home care to find, hire, manage and pay their caregivers, has launched a new service geared to helping organizations, such as assisted living facilities, senior housing, and private duty agencies get access to the tens of thousands of caregivers.

Jeffrey Fry, Well Beyond Care’s CEO and President states, “While we offer a unique direct to consumer service that allows individuals to hire and manage their in-home care by “doing-it-yourself” for over three (3) years, during that period we have accumulated an extensive pool of qualified caregivers who are looking for a job. As such, we feel this plethora of caregivers should be made available to a wider market of entities looking to hire caregivers.”

Mr. Fry add, “We know that the largest cost in running a private duty agency or any healthcare facility has to do with recruiting, retaining, curating, and managing caregivers. Our new service reduces those costs, making the hiring process simpler and more efficient. We understand how difficult it is to find and secure quality caregivers and we have a resource that can help organizations offset these difficulties.”

The Well Beyond Care Caregiver Recruitment and Management Service will be offered as a monthly subscription with no limit to the number of caregivers an organization can hire using this service. In addition, there is no contract needed to use the service as it is a pay-as-you go fee structure. There is a small fee for every caregiver who connects with an organization. This service is scheduled to be released in early July of 2021.

Well Beyond Care has been expanding their services over the past three years and now operates in every state in America including most metropolitan areas. They also have hundreds of caregivers registered as members in each of the top 100 metro area in America. For more information contact Well Beyond Care Organization services at org@wellbeyondcare.com or by phone at (512) 715-4114.

Tinnitus Prevention: 3 Essential Precautions from Dr. Julie at Sound Relief Hearing Center

Dr. Julie Prutsman is the owner and founder of Sound Relief Hearing Center.

Dr. Julie Prutsman, Au.D.

Dr. Julie Prutsman offers 3 essential precautions to protect yourself and others from tinnitus and/or hearing loss.

DENVER, COLORADO, UNITED STATES, June 30, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — Folks that work in the emergency room are very aware of the dangerous potential of fireworks as a major cause of painful injuries to the hands, arms, and face. Most people don’t consider that these explosions can cause permanent damage to your auditory system resulting in tinnitus or hearing loss.

Whether you are attending a professional fireworks show, or have purchased your own, Dr. Julie Prutsman of Sound Relief Hearing Center warns, “People don’t realize that fireworks – at close range – can reach loudness levels between 150 and 175 decibels, which far exceeds what is safe for your ears. Sounds above 85 dB can be damaging to your hearing.”

“A lot of the excitement with fireworks,” Dr. Prutsman explains, “comes down to the loudness of the explosions. These explosions can wreak havoc on the inner ear by damaging the tiny hair cells that conduct sound waves.”
Fireworks on the Fourth of July are an American tradition, and avoiding them completely is almost impossible, if not somewhat un-American.
Dr. Prutsman offers 3 essential precautions to protect yourself and others from tinnitus:

1. Be VERY careful with children.

Hearing protection is vital. With smaller ear canals, the sound pressure entering the ear is greater. This means that normal sounds to an adult can be up to 20 decibels louder for an infant. “I strongly recommend carrying your baby in a carrier and using pediatric-size earmuffs to block the sound of the fireworks for infants and young children,” says Dr. Prutsman.

2. Keep a safe distance

By maintaining a safe distance, the less harmful the sound is to your ears. Dr. Prutsman explains, “Your distance from the sound of the fireworks can make all of the difference in terms of decibel level and hearing safety. Around 500 feet will still give you a great view, without the sound pressure that can cause damage and cause tinnitus.”

3. Bring – and WEAR – hearing protection!

If you just can’t seem to pull yourself away from the action, please protect your hearing wisely with custom-made hearing protection. “The best way to know you have the proper hearing protection for something like fireworks is to talk to an audiologist and discuss custom earplugs. There are inexpensive, custom options that fit and feel great and can be used for multiple purposes such as fireworks, concerts, and loud sporting events. These ensure that the fit and seal protect against the harmful intensity levels without leaving anything to chance,” explains Dr. Prutsman. “Foam earplugs will suffice in a bind, but the key is to make sure they are completely sealed into your ear by rolling them down to their smallest size before inserting them into your ear canal. In some instances of louder exposure, double hearing protection (i.e., earplugs and earmuffs) may be warranted, such as with shotgun shooting or target practice.

You can still enjoy your Fourth of July while staying safe. If you happen to read this after July 4th and think you have tinnitus, you should contact one of the offices at Sound Relief Hearing Center. They can determine the extent of the damage as well as what exactly can be done to remedy your situation.

Watchdog Group Helps End Abuse of Parental Rights

The new law requires schools to make “a reasonable attempt to notify” parents before their child is removed from school in handcuffs.

The new School Safety law stops the Florida Baker Act from violating parental rights and traumatizing young children.

Our primary focus for years has been to restore parental rights by simply giving parents the opportunity to help their child as a first course of action.”

— Diane Stein, President of CCHR Florida

CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, UNITED STATES, June 30, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — In the last four years the Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) Florida’s Baker Act Hotline has received more than 700 calls from distraught parents trying to free their children from psychiatric facilities. According to the CCHR Florida staff who answer the hotline, eighty percent of those calls could have easily been avoided. Most common among them are children with developmental disabilities, such as autism, who do not meet the criteria for a Baker Act and in almost all cases the child is removed from school by law enforcement.

For example, the Southern Poverty Law Center reported that Shawn, a 10-year-old boy with autism, is still haunted by the day in 2018 when he was Baker Acted. Shawn was separated from his distraught father, placed in the back of a police car and unable to contact his family while being held overnight at a psychiatric facility—“all because he expressed to a teacher some distress over losing a playground game.”

While Shawn was being questioned by a sheriff’s deputy, his father, Brian, “explained to the deputy that Shawn had autism and was not always able to control his emotions, but these kinds of reactions were normal, and he knew how to help Shawn deal with them.” Brian’s begging and pleas to spare his son from the traumatic experience of the Baker Act were refuted by the deputy, “claiming that the law required him to take Shawn to a facility once the school called, regardless of his father’s ability to care for him appropriately, regardless of his wishes, and regardless of the fact that his son had a known developmental disability that accounted for his behavior.”

Shawn, the SPLC report stated, had recurring nightmares about the incident and still “frequently talks about not wanting to ‘go to jail’ again.”

“Misconceptions on how and when a Baker Act can legally be initiated is one of the main reasons our organization began delivering training courses on the mental health law,” stated the President for the Florida chapter of CCHR, Diane Stein.

CCHR not only delivers continuing education to attorneys and mental health professionals on the Baker Act but also works with law enforcement to adopt internal policies that help prevent Baker Act abuse. In just two years there have been close to 160 policy adoptions, but CCHR believes that education alone is not enough to stop abusive involuntary psychiatric examination of children.

“We are on the ground speaking to these parents” whose children are wrongfully and involuntarily taken into custody, said CCHR Florida’s Abuse Case Coordinator Pat DiMartino. “So we know how much it’s happening. This is a real situation. It’s a law that has gone off the rails and is being totally misapplied.”

Its continued misapplication traumatized Hilary Caskey’s son after he was unnecessarily Baker Acted at nine years old. “I had to homeschool him for the next three years,” said Caskey. “If a cop show came up on TV he ran from the room crying.”

Caskey was never called when her son was Baker Acted and received a “nonchalant” message from school faculty about an incident involving her son. Only later that day did she find out that her son was Baker Acted.

Mya Camargo’s son was also wrongfully Baker Acted, and she said he refused to attend public school after the incident. “I am so happy that the School Safety bill is passed because it will save so many kids in the long run from trauma,” said Camargo.

The School Safety bill was signed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on June 29th after it passed the Florida House and Senate unanimously. The change to the law will require schools to make “a reasonable attempt to notify” parents before police are called to transport their child to a psychiatric facility where their shoe laces are taken away and in some cases are they not allowed to see their parents for up to 72 hours.

“This legislation was definitely not something that happened over night,” said CCHR Florida’s Outreach Director Katerina Alemis. “Part of it came from educating people about parental rights.” By creating their own “Parental Rights” booklet and an online website to help parents understand some of the rights accorded to them under the law, CCHR Florida has reached 906,918 people since 2015 to raise awareness about parental rights that could help prevent misuse of the Baker Act.

“Our primary focus for years has been to restore parental rights by simply giving parents the opportunity to help their child as a first course of action,” said Stein. “The law clearly states that a person in crisis can be helped by a willing family member in place of a Baker Act, but this was being ignored. And when you are dealing with a child, this is not just abuse, it is a parental rights violation.”

Caskey said if she was called before her son was Baker Acted, “I would have been there in 10 minutes.” With the passing of the School Safety bill, “My rights don’t end at the school door.”

The Reynolds Team Network Gave Back BIG During Times of Uncertainty in the Midst of the Pandemic

The Reynolds Team Network hosted the 2020 Children National Hospital’s Radiothon and gave back thousands of dollars to their cause!

The Reynolds Team Network hosted the 2020 Children National Hospital’s Radiothon and helped raise $457,080 for their cause!

WASHINGTON, D.C., UNITED STATES, June 30, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Reynolds Team Network of Keller Williams Realty is committed to generating more opportunities to give back to the community and families they serve. As a small business that has remained up and running through times of uncertainty during the pandemic, CEO and Team Leader, Sarah Reynolds, was reported saying, “To whom much is given, much is required. I felt blessed to have such an incredible team that was still helping families buy and sell homes, and felt it was our responsibility to give back to those who were greatly affected by the Pandemic.” In years past, their mission to give back had been a top priority, but last year hit especially close to home and kicked their movement into high gear.

In addition to continuing to support Children’s National Hospital, The Fisher House Foundation, and other Worthy Causes with over $300,000 in donations in 2020 alone, The Reynolds Team hosted the Children’s National Hospital’s Radiothon, which is normally held on-site at the facility. Their efforts resulted in a large number of donations, which supports families who cannot afford treatment.

In addition, during this health care crisis, the team recognized the urgency to give back to the Health Care heroes that were working around the clock to treat Coronavirus patients. They partnered with John K. Wood of 29 Diner for the “Be-A-Hero-Feed-A-Hero” event where they fed every single employee at Inova Loudoun Hospital for a full 24 hours. In November 2020, The Grand Opening of the Team’s headquarters kicked off with an organized food drive, which resulted in over 2,000 pounds of food being donated to Dulles South Food Pantry. The team also held a Toy Drive for the foster children at Northern Virginia Family Services, with over 100 gifts donated for Christmas 2020.

“This past year, the Team and I continued our commitment to the community with our Love All Serve All Initiative,” said Sarah Reynolds. “We have felt the weight of the Pandemic on our friends, family, neighbors, and loved ones. Our hearts go out to anyone who has lost a loved one or has been affected by the tragedy. We feel honored and blessed to help in any way that we can.”

Open toxicogenomic data project improves our knowledge for nanomaterials toxicity

The nanoΦaros workflow provides users structured, harmonised and ready for modelling datasets, with sufficient metadata to increase data FAIRness.

Toxicogenomics is a relatively new method that helps us to gain insight into the possible toxicity mechanisms of engineered nanomaterials (ENMs).

While large amounts of transcriptomics data from ENM exposures have already been accumulated, a unified, easily accessible and reusable collection of transcriptomics data for ENMs was lacking”

— Antreas Afantitis

CYRPUS, June 30, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — A team of scientists involved in NanoSolveIT, an EU nanoinformatics project funded under Horizon 2020, completed a study that was published in Nature journal Scientific Data (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41597-021-00808-y), in order to unleash the full potential of already existing transcriptomics data on ENM exposures. “While large amounts of transcriptomics data from ENM exposures have already been accumulated, a unified, easily accessible and reusable collection of transcriptomics data for ENMs was lacking” says Antreas Afantitis, NanoSolveIT Project Coordinator “The team manually curated, and preprocessed and unified a collection of 101 data sets, covering a range of ENMs, organisms, and exposure setups.”
As Professor Dario Greco, Director of the Finnish Hub for Development and Validation of Integrated Approaches, at Tampere University says “In an attempt to improve the FAIRness of already existing transcriptomics data for ENMs, we curated a collection of homogenized transcriptomics data from human, mouse and rat ENM exposures in vitro and in vivo including extracting the physicochemical characteristics of the ENMs used in each study from the associated publications.”
The traditional methods of toxicology, used for decades now to scrutinize the safety levels of engineered materials, provide us with a useful tool. However the successful marriage of computer technology and bioinformatics has given birth to a new generation of Toxicogenomics (TGx) tools. Their main function is to collect and store data sets which are further explored and used as the basis for development of predictive models.
The application of TGx data to nanosafety can provide novel possibilities for grouping and classifying ENMs based on the similarity of molecular alterations in biological systems they induce, and help to derive biomarkers to identify nano-specific signatures.

Transcriptomics technologies, used to study an organism as the sum of its RNA transcripts (known as the transcriptome), are the frontline of TGx. While large amounts of transcriptomics data for multiple ENMs have already been generated, offering a valuable resource for future studies and applications, the data are scattered across public repositories, and their FAIRness is currently hampered by their heterogeneous nature and a lack of standardization in the preprocessing and analysis.

The NanoPharos database (https://db.nanopharos.eu/), where all the datasets generated within the H2020 NanoSolveIT (https://www.nanosolveit.eu) and NanoCommons (https://nanocommons.eu/) projects are available, assists accessibility, interoperability and reusability of curated datasets. Antreas Afantitis, from NovaMechanics Ltd and NanoSolveIT H2020 project coordinator, commented: NanoPharos database has been designed under the FAIR data principles to include computationally derived data based on simulations of ENMs at different levels of complexity. The database was further extended to include ENM characterization data and biological effects to support complete in silico nanosafety evaluation.

July: A Horrible Month for US Consumers

High Drug Prices Couple

July Drug Price Hikes Could Prove Lethal

CPPI Header

What Happens Every July: Big Pharma Uses Cover of Holiday to Raise Prices

Americans are dying due to high drug prices. July will likely usher in further profit-hungry drug price hikes. Congress must act now.”

— Jack Pfeiffer, Executive Director of CPPI

WASHINGTON, D.C., U.S.A., June 30, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — Every year in the United States, drug manufacturers raise the price of brand-name prescription drugs in January and July. The Campaign for Personal Prescription Importation says Congress must take action now to ensure that imperiled Americans have access to affordable medications.

“Americans are dying unnecessarily due to grossly high prescription drug prices. July will likely mark another round of profit-hungry drug price hikes. Congress must act now to save lives and ensure Americans have access to affordable prescription drugs,” said Jack Pfeiffer, Executive Director of the Campaign for Personal Prescription Importation. “Americans importing their medication from licensed online Canadian pharmacies are saving 50 to 90 percent on brand name drugs. Expanding personal prescription importation access is a straightforward step to save lives.”

Historic Drug Price Hikes
Drug manufactures have sped the pace of price increases during the COVID-19 pandemic.

– In January 2021, drugmakers increased more brand name drug list prices than any other January in the last decade.
– Over 900 drugs increased in price by an average of 5.1% in January 2021, compared to 639 drug price increases at an average of 5.2% in January 2020, reports Brooklyn46 Research.
– July 2020 price increases on 67 drugs by an average of 3.1% eclipsed increases of July 2019 on 37 drugs at an average 4.3%, reports GoodRx.
– Brand name drug prices have increased an average of 276.8% between 2006 and 2020, compared to the cumulative general inflation rate of 32% during the same period, reports AARP Research.

Personal Prescription Importation Solution
Two bills presently before Congress could immediately expand American patients’ access to affordable prescription drugs and curtail the deadly impacts of rising U.S. drug prices. The Safe and Affordable Drugs from Canada Act of 2021 (S.259, H.R.832) and The Affordable and Safe Prescription Drug Importation Act of 2021 (S.920, H.R. 2181) would expand support for prescription importation and fully codify individuals’ rights to safely import prescription drugs from Canada.

– Americans report saving an average of $2,736 a year on personally imported prescription drugs from certified online Canadian pharmacies compared to costs in the U.S.
– Campaign for Personal Prescription Importation price comparisons find that online Canadian pharmacy prices are 50% to 90% more affordable than prices at AmazonPharmacy, GoodRx, and leading U.S. pharmacy competitors like Walmart and CVS.

– The Kaiser Family Foundation estimates that prescription drug importation could deliver $7 billion in federal savings over 10 years.

“The time to take action against rising U.S. prescription drug prices is now. American lives depend on it,” reiterated Pfeiffer.

Price Hikes Lethal Implications
Millions of Americans struggling to afford medications are facing lethal consequences as rising prices put necessary prescription drugs out of reach.

– More than 1.1 million Medicare patients could die over the next decade because they cannot afford to pay for their prescription medications, reports West Health.
– Even small increases in out-of-pocket prices can correlate with a 32.7% increase in monthly mortality, reports the National Bureau of Economic Research.
– Drug price increases lead to much higher outpatient costs and decrease appropriate drug treatment due to access issues, reports a JAMA Network study of over 45,485 patients.
– 89 percent of Americans over 65 take prescription medications, with one in four struggling to afford drug costs, reports the Kaiser Family Foundation.

Price Hike Impacts on Seniors, Medicaid & Medicare
While uninsured, underinsured, and patients with chronic conditions are dramatically impacted by rising prescription drug prices, the toll hits seniors particularly hard, even those covered by Medicaid and Medicare.

– The January 2021 price increases will add over $2.3 billion in pre-rebate spending to Medicare Part D. Beneficiaries pay roughly 25% of a drug’s pre-rebate cost before they get to catastrophic coverage; after which, taxpayers pay 80% of the pre-rebate costs, estimates 46Brooklyn Research.
– An older American who uses brand-name prescription drugs is likely to have experienced an average annual retail cost of drug therapy of more than $31,000 in 2020, exceeding the median annual income for individual Medicare beneficiaries of $29,650, reports AARP Research.
– Out-of-pocket prescription drug costs have risen faster than any other senior expense, 252% since 2000 to over $3,875. Over the same time, average Medicare Part B premiums have been the second fastest-rising cost, climbing 218% to $144.60, reports the Senior Citizens League.
– List price increases on relatively high-cost drugs such as Eliquis (used for blood clots), Symbicort (a treatment for asthma and lung disease), Revlimid (a cancer medication), have translated directly to higher Medicare and Medicare enrollee costs, reports Kaiser Family Foundation.
